We all use water irrespective of where we are to satisfy our needs, that is why Water is known to be vital and a source of life.
Humans, plants, and animals are all made up of water. All living things would die if there weren't any water around.
We use water for
drinking, washing, cleaning, cooking, and growing our food as well as many
other things.
Water is a chemical compound
consisting of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen. The name water typically
refers to the liquid state of the compound. The solid phase is known as ice and
gas phase is also known to be the steam.
The intake of water on a regular
basis is essential for lubricating ones joints, acts as a shock absorber in the
eyes and the spinal cord and aids in maintaining constant body temperature.

That is why the United Nations
General Assembly every year commemorates this day 22th March, as World Water
Day all over the world in other to highlights a specific aspect of freshwater.
Over the years, each World Water
Day, focused on a unique issue within the context of water sustainability.
Sanitation, urban planning and trans-boundary waters have all served as yearly
themes.
This year’s theme “International
Year of Water Cooperation” aims at focusing attention on the importance of
freshwater and advocating for sustainable management of freshwater resources.
The importance of this year’s theme
is to strike a balance between the different needs, priorities and share
precious resource equitably, using water as an instrument of peace.
Promoting water cooperation also
implies an interdisciplinary approach in cultural, educational and scientific
factors, as well as religious, ethical, social, political, legal, institutional
and economic dimensions.
Reports indicate that, there has
been tremendous effort to curb the level of waste food which results in the
misuse of water. Therefore, awareness campaign has been created on healthier
diets and effective storing of water.
By 2015, a target date set by the
Millennium Declaration, hopes to halve the proportion of people who are unable
to afford or reach safe drinking water.
As humans, we need to take good care
of our water bodies, and not destroy it, since water is life.
