Steps to Achieving Healthy Skin

The Skin is the largest organ. Every pore eliminates waste and sweat, and sabsceous glands to help remove toxins. The skin reflects what is happening inside our bodies. If we are stressed, run down, or have over-indulged, this can show up in a dull, lifeless complexion, or as rashes, spots and blemishes. A healthy skin can be achieved under the following steps:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables-preferably raw or juiced. They provide betacarotene (the plant form of vitamin A) and vitamins C, both essentialfor maintaining healthy skin.
  • Choose whole grains, lean protein foods and moderate intake of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids, found in oily fish, vegetable oils and nuts and seeds.
  • Ensure that your diet is not lacking in the mineral zinc. Lean meat, skinless poultry, shellfish and nuts are all good sources and yoghurt and skimmed milk also supply useful amounts.
  • Restrict convenience foods, high in saturated fats.
  • Cut down on chocolate, sweets, highly salted snacks and soft drinks.
  • Restrict alcohol intake
  • Boost your circulation by exercising and skin-brushing.
  • Get plenty of restful sleep.
  • Take regular exercise in the fresh air and breathe deeply.
